Glorious Goodwood Betting

Staged at the end of July or early August for five days, the Glorious Goodwood betting for horse racing fans is always one of the season highlights. The 2021 Glorious Goodwood Festival will be staged from 28th Jul 2021 to 2nd Aug.

Panama hats, plus strawberries and cream are two of the big features often seen at Glorious Goodwood each season too, while the track, based in West Sussex, is also billed as one of the most scenic venues in the country.

Glorious Goodwood betting over the five-day meeting is always popular with horse racing pundits, with a massive twelve Group races during the fixture. It is one of races to remember in the horse racing calendar. You can also check the list of the top horse races to bet on.

Glorious Goodwood Odds

Most of the leading bookmakers will price up many Glorious Goodwood odds in the build-up to the meeting, but not all races will be covered.

The main Group races, like the Sussex Stakes, Nassu Stakes, Vintage Stakes and the Richmond Stakes are more likely to have Glorious Goodwood odds attached to them further in advance.

All the Glorious Goodwood betting will then be available for all the other races once the final cards are out – on the flat, the final declarations for each horse race are published 48 hours before.

Remember, that if you are placing bets on any Glorious Goodwood race in the ante-post market, then you will lose your stake if your horse doesn’t run. This is why most Glorious Goodwood bets are placed nearer to the race times.

Glorious Goodwood Runners

In recent years we’ve had many Glorious Goodwood runners that horse racing fans have latched onto.

The John Gosden-trained Stradivarius is one of these and has become a popular Glorious Goodwood favourite with punters after winning the 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2020 runnings of the Qatar Goodwood Cup. He could easily be back for more in 2021 as he’ll still only be a 7-year-old.

Stradivarius’ Glorious Goodwood racing result in 2020 was another bad result for the bookmakers, and with age on his side then this popular stayer is sure to be one of the highlights again at the 2021 Qatar Glorious Goodwood Festival.

Other notably Glorious Goodwood runners that could head to the 2021 meeting are Battleground, Space Blues, Steel Bull, Supremacy, Mogul, One Master, Pablo Escobarr and the popular sprinter – Battaash – who landed the 2020 King George Qatar Stakes in easy fashion in 2020.

All these Glorious Goodwood runners above are horses that won at the 2020 Glorious Goodwood Meeting so if running again in 2021 have to be respected.

Glorious Goodwood History

The Qatar Glorious Goodwood festival is staged at Goodwood racecourse. The course is set just north of Chichester in West Sussex, with the venue run by the Duke Of Richmond.

The five-day Glorious Goodwood meeting has twelve Group races spread over the meeting, with three Group one races – the Sussex Stakes, Nassau Stakes and the Goodwood Cup.

The Group Two Gordon Stakes is another key race at the Glorious Goodwood Festival – this is also a good guide and trial race for the St Leger, which is run at Doncaster, later in the season.

Qatar signed a 10-year sponsorship deal back in 2014 and, as a result, has been known as the Qatar Goodwood Festival since.

The first Goodwood meeting was staged in 1802.
